Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Dufour.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After working in my passion industry, hairstyling and barbering for 10 years, I started combining that passion with another, writing. The Exquisite Find Hair Blog began!
After being trained in SEO, my hair blog has taken off, though for the first several years it felt like it was slowly chugging its way uphill, it is gaining speed and starting to snowball down the other side of the mountain, growing bigger and more successful!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting any new venture has its ups and downs, but that’s the joy- constantly learning! You can’t learn without making mistakes and experimenting with what works and what doesn’t. There has been a lot of learning along the process, tears even, frustrations, but happy dances and fist pumps too!
As far as blogging goes, it was hard to get used to the publishing program and how to navigate it, redesign the style, and how to write blog posts that would rank on Google to gain organic traffic. And to rewrite posts that don’t do well, can be frustrating. But when it goes well and the blog continues to scale, I can’t help but rejoice and continue.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty is hair, more specifically, barbering and beards. I love the challenge of men’s haircuts. Unlike the common misconception that women are picky with their hair, men are significantly more particular.
I also have to take texture, color, growth pattern, cowlicks, overall style, personality, and career into consideration before the haircut even starts. I love every step of the challenge! And, an excellent barber learns how to conduct the consultation and internalize all of the details to be considered above in under 5 minutes!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
It’s important to give yourself grace. To continue to challenge yourself, and discipline yourself to be consistent, success isn’t far off.
