Today we’d like to introduce you to NotMeghan.

Meghan Holub

Hi Meghan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a DDR ((Dance Dance Revolution)) enthusiast back in the day which jumpstarted (pun intended) my passion for dance music. I’ve spent countless hours on the dance floors (and dance pads) across the globe. I’ve loved traveling to see my favorite DJs play at iconic venues and events. I always wanted to learn to DJ, but listening and dancing always took priority. When Covid happened and we all went into lockdown, I knew I couldn’t go see my favorites anymore for an unknown amount of time.

So I decided it was finally the moment to learn and to bring the dance floor to myself. I taught myself how to DJ by playing what I would want to hear if I was a partygoer at the club. And somehow that’s been translating well to getting booked at more venues and opening for big artists that I’ve followed and respected for years! This year, I even got to play internationally at the Amsterdam Dance Event, which I’d have never believed you if you told me this would’ve happened!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is anything a smooth road? Just as I was starting to get booked for bigger shows, I broke both my wrists at the same time. So I couldn’t play or practice much during those few months! Couldn’t even select music on my computer to listen to.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a dentist by day, and I enjoy the dichotomy of my day job vs. night job because people certainly like you way more as the DJ rather than as the dentist.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Wow, this just got deep. For this particular interview, I’ll keep it DJ-related. First of all, any music with a weird sensual vocal in it followed by a clean, rolling bassline.

Second- playing a track that, in my mind, the crowd doesn’t know they want to hear, and then watching the reaction when I’m right about it (hopefully!). Third- I love seeing so many familiar faces on the dance floor, both when I am playing and when I’m attending.
