Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Ward.
Hi Melody, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Creativity has been part of my story from the very beginning. I grew up in Upstate New York, and when it came time for college, I felt a pull back to Colorado—where my family had planted their roots. There, I studied art, design, and photography, laying the foundation for a career built on imagination, intention, and connection.
After college, I became a freelance graphic designer with a clear mission: to help small businesses build meaningful brands. I’ve always been passionate about supporting people with big creative visions but without the financial backing of larger companies. I truly believe everyone deserves a strong start in pursuing their dreams, and I find deep fulfillment in being part of that journey. Bringing designs to life and helping business owners take pride in their work is at the heart of what I do.
As an artist, I’m constantly exploring and learning new mediums. Most recently, I’ve dove headfirst into the world of ceramics, creating functional art that blends beauty and purpose. Creativity is a driving force in my life, and I’m endlessly grateful for the opportunity to make meaningful work for others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road is never smooth—and if it is, I don’t think you’re doing it right. The bumps are where the real learning happens. Along the way, I’ve faced challenges such as gaps between work, which can be stressful when your livelihood depends on it. Breaking into markets and shows to share my ceramics has also been difficult, especially when trying to get your name out in a crowded space.
While the journey isn’t always easy, a supportive community has made all the difference. Through their encouragement and word-of-mouth support, my work continues to find its way into the world, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, I am a graphic designer specializing in branding for small businesses—one of my favorite types of work. Branding allows me to work closely with clients, truly get to know them and their businesses, and create something meaningful and lasting. I love collaborating within the Colorado community and feel a deep sense of pride in every project I take on. Each successful design feels like a gift, and one I’m genuinely grateful for.
What sets me apart is the care and intention I bring to every project. I take the time to understand a client’s mission while still working efficiently and delivering the results they’re hoping for. Every brand I create is infused with a personal touch—something that goes beyond the final product and reflects the heart of the business behind it.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be seen and heard. In an overstimulated world, it’s easy for voices to be overlooked, which is why my mission is to create space for authenticity and connection. I want to help people reveal their true colors and share the beauty of what makes them unique.
Kindness goes a long way, and I believe we could all benefit from slowing down—taking a moment to pause, reflect, and stop to smell the roses.
