Conversations with Mike Lamitola

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Lamitola.

Hi Mike, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello and thanks for having me be a part of this.   I’m Mike, I grew up in Connecticut and have been out here in Colorado for 18 years.  I’m a dad, seeker of adventure in all forms and for the sake of this interview, a musician.  Music is one of the food groups for my soul.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve learned lots of lessons!  And they were usually through challenges.   Life in general is not smooth but when things flow it’s incredible.  The bumps, roller coasters, and struggles were always what inspired me the most and I am learning it’s because what lies in between those parts of life is pretty surreal.  Those lessons and breakthroughs usually find their way into songs as I process them. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I play live all around the Colorado front range and just released an album, The Eighth Insight, in December of 22’.    Right now I’m out playing shows to support that and I’m excited to keep finding venues and different shows that fit my style.  I’ve found it really fun to adapt to different places and audiences and see how that shapes what comes out. 

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Vulnerability.  Most of my music covers a range of different emotions, I was told all of them by a few kind folks at a show last year so I tried to genuinely receive that feedback and continue to keep it going.  It’s definitely nice to have people feel what is being conveyed and gives me just a little more light each time to keep doing it.
