Today we’d like to introduce you to Pulse Ctrl
Hi Pulse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We met while working at a DJ and entertainment company that primarily services weddings. We quickly connected as friends and jokingly tossed around the idea of becoming a DJ duo. It wasn’t long before we realized how much we enjoyed each other’s sets—more than anyone else’s—because of our similar taste in music.
Our journey began in our company’s warehouse, where we practiced together and brainstormed a DJ name. Around the same time, Erin took on a role managing and booking talent for a queer nightclub in Boulder, which led to our first live performance as a duo. Over the next 6–9 months, we refined our sound and started landing gigs at other venues. Watching our growth and how naturally our styles blend has been an incredible experience.
One of our biggest milestones was launching Pulse Controlled, a monthly house and techno night at DV8, which quickly became a huge success. When DV8 closed in August 2024, we shifted our focus to the Denver scene, diving deeper into new opportunities. Now, we’re beyond excited to bring Pulse Controlled to Denver for the first time on March 8th, and we can’t wait for what’s next!
This year, we’re pushing ourselves even further—dipping our toes into music production and expanding beyond our home base. We’re starting to take gigs in new states, which is a huge step for us, and we can’t wait to share our sound with a wider audience. 2025 is shaping up to be our biggest year yet!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things haven’t always been easy. The Denver music scene is highly competitive and largely male-dominated, making it a challenge to gain recognition and earn the trust of event producers and venues. It took time, persistence, and countless hours of hard work to prove ourselves.
Beyond that, while we share a deep love for the same music, we’re also two unique individuals with different lives and perspectives. Building a strong, successful duo has required open communication, trust, and a shared vision. We’ve worked hard to cultivate an incredible working relationship—one where we openly express our needs, support each other’s growth, and stay aligned on our goals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a DJ duo specializing in Tech and Bass House, with a passion for delivering high-energy sets that keep the crowd moving. We love throwing in electrifying, crowd-pleasing remixes that grab attention and create unforgettable moments on the dance floor.
Our mission goes beyond the music—we’re here to unite the underground and queer music communities, creating inclusive spaces where everyone can come together and celebrate the sounds that bring us all to life.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is incredibly important. Whether it’s putting ourselves out there by asking a producer, venue, or artist to add us to a lineup—knowing we might get denied—or taking a chance on a track we’re unsure will resonate with the crowd, the music industry demands risk.
You never truly know how people will react to what you play, and that unpredictability is part of the thrill. Reading a room, tuning in with the crowd, and taking bold chances are what make DJing so exhilarating. The reward? It’s just as significant as the risk.
