Conversations with Rachel Ballinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Ballinger.

Hi Rachel , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband Isaiah and I have 8 kids and live on a small farm in Sedalia Colorado. We have a horse, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, Golden Retriever dogs, and a bunch of barn cats. I enjoy feeding my family down home country cooking made from scratch with real ingredients. I’ve always enjoyed sharing on social media and once I started sharing recipes, my accounts really took off. I decided to lean into it and my platform grew quite rapidly. I’m on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok and I have a recipe website www.myeverydayorsinarylife.com. I also wrote a cookbook that is available for preorder now and will be released on December 1, 2016!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were definitely plenty of challenges along the way. I had to learn how to juggle maintaining my presence online along with prioritizing my family, my work, and all our animals. There’s so much information out there on how to grow your social media and I kind’ve just ignored it all and did what worked for me and it worked! I’ve never followed the trends or used trending music. I love old country music and that is what I use on my reels. I started using music on my cooking reels because usually my background is very noisy with our busy family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a food blogger, cookbook author, and social media influencer. I love sharing simple recipes for real down home country cooking. I love inspiring families to set the table and sit down to enjoy a meal together. Family dinners are so important. I’m very proud of my cookbook. Publishing a cookbook has been a longtime goal of mine and I worked really hard on it. I think what sets me apart from a lot of food bloggers is that I’m not a professional or trained chef. I grew up in a large family and my mom taught me how to cook and bake from a young age and I’ve continued that my whole life. I’m not fancy or polished but I’m real and I make good food and I love sharing my recipes and teaching others how to do it too.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The biggest way people can support me is by following me on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Follow me, like my posts, comment, and share my recipes. Feel free to dm me with questions. I try really hard to respond to everyone! Also check out my recipe website. The recipes are easy to read and easy to print. My website is monetized so it helps me so much every time somebody visits my website. I was able to quit my corporate job earlier this year and my website is a big part of why I was able to do that. I love collaborating with people and business by trying and sharing relevant products. Also I’m so excited to share my cookbook with the world and would love to do book signings.
