I follow a path that provides service to others and challenges me to be better at my art and business passions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building a business with personal funds is a challenge to plan out and build step by step without requiring a loan or debt to fund the growth.
It requires patience, planning and planning and more planning. Building a business is like drawing plans and developing your dream home. That was the inspiration to write the book “7 Steps to a Home Care Agency” a roadmap for building a business with under $1,000 startup money.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work with fabric to create dimensional art pieces. Some projects are wall art pieces, some of sculptures and vessels. Taking 2-dimensional art like quilting and moving it into 3-dimensional art is my passion. Stretching the boundaries in art forms brings transformation for the artist and the viewer.
Definitions are limiting to me because fabric, paint, stitching, metal pieces, bead embellishments etc., don’t fit into any one category. I start with fabric and develop a story from there. Whatever elements of design the story needs will get included in the art piece.
Presently I am known for the floating art quilts, art vessels and masterful fabric flowers. I’m proud of my teaching techniques and seeing students take my ideas to another level.
What sets me apart presently is my floating art quilts and unique vessel designs.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Realize you will change, your ideas will change, your focus may even change as you devel into whatever passion you explore. Trust the process.
When you face a blank brain which seem to have no “fresh” ideas stop and treasure that moment because you are on the edge of new territory. Stay with the process – it’s a signal you are wanting to try something out of your comfort zone. Just do it- bust through the block with no plan – best way to discover your hidden talent waiting to be developed.
