Today we’d like to introduce you to Russ Haman.
Hi Russ, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Shelley and I kicked off our small business careers in the residential window cleaning world. We always focused on hiring amazing people who were honest and really wanted to help our clients. Because we stuck to that, we built a huge client base, and everyone who worked for us always offered top-notch service.
In 2022, a lot of our employees finished their degrees and started new adventures. We had a tough time finding new people to join our team, so we started thinking about other business ideas. We wanted to create a community focused business where we could build genuine relationships with our customers and employees.
While we were looking, we found a Bricks and Minifigs store for sale. Since LEGO is so popular for bringing people together, being kind, and having fun, we knew this was the perfect business for us. Once we bought the store, we started putting on community events and making connections.
We kept our old business model, which was all about hiring amazing people who wanted to help and serve others. As we grew, our mission became clear: “We Exist to Enhance Lives with Lego.”
Everyone is welcome at our store, and our greatest ambition is to make sure everyone feels loved, valued, and appreciated. It’s a place where you can be creative, show off your LEGO builds, fix up your old LEGO sets, or find rare and cool minifigs and other LEGO collectibles. Best of all, it’s a place where you can find other LEGO fans with whom you can share your interests and ideas!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Just like any thrilling adventure, we have had our share of surprises along the way! Early on, we had to relocate our entire Bricks and Minifigs store to a new spot without breaking a single pre-loved set. Another challenge was diving into the LEGO community and discovering how we could best support them while also building a store that could succeed financially. Oh, and let’s not forget the major break-in that made headlines in the local news. Lastly, like all retail businesses, we have had to learn to navigate the ebb and flow of sales each month.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Bricks and Minifigs Littleton is a distinctive and authentic store that specializes in LEGO products. Our extensive inventory includes current sets, LEGO minifigures, rare retired sets in their original packaging, pre-owned sets, and a substantial selection of parts and loose bulk LEGO pieces. What makes us special compared to other LEGO-selling stores is that we’re all about buying, selling, and trading LEGO stuff! Whether you’re looking to trade in your LEGO for store credit or just want to get rid of some old LEGO for some quick cash, we’ve got you covered.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
LEGO has been one of the world’s most successful toy companies for 90+ years. LEGO is expanding their global reach by opening a new factory in Virginia and a new office in India with the intent of getting their awesome products to customers faster and more efficiently. Since the pandemic, we’ve seen the adult demographic grow, and LEGO has responded by creating more complex set designs and offering higher-priced options to attract adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs), while continuing to offer fantastic themes for young people. LEGO has also placed a significant emphasis on the activities of adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs) who engage in the creation of their own unique designs. These enthusiasts are the architects behind remarkable artwork utilizing LEGO bricks, and they proudly showcase their designs at LEGO conventions around the world.
