Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Ponto.
Hi Ryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Our story begins almost three years ago. After working in the Carpet and Air Duct cleaning industry for the past eight years, we saw an opportunity to improve. The Spot Specialist opened out of a necessity to provide a higher level of service and value to the Northern Colorado and Denver Metro. Spot cleaning, i.e., spilled wine, animal accidents, nail polish, and slime, were just a few of the culprits we found on a regular basis.
Clients saw the benefits of our offerings and wanted their whole homes cleaned with our green products. Unfortunately, many other carpet and textile cleaners use harsh chemicals when cleaning. We realized that many of our friends and family suffered from some type of allergies or medical conditions that could be made worse by using chemicals. We also provide Area Rug, Upholstery, and Wood floor cleaning.
In October of 2021, we introduced Air Duct and Dryer Vent cleaning. As we strived for a total solution to improve the indoor air quality for our residential and business clients, this was the other piece of the puzzle that was missing. The ability to provide a partnership of services that lead to the betterment of everyone’s health just made sense.
Not to mention, dryer lint fores are the nation’s 2nd leading cause of structure fires in the US. Our IICRC accrediting and continued training position. The Spot Specialist is to be a trusted resource in the communities we serve today and in the future.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any small business just starting out, the key is brand awareness! Being about to take part in Chamber and other local community events has greatly benefited our growth as a business and personally. Additionally, being a part of Master Networks, which helps develop long-term trusted relationships of just passing leads, has been instrumental in the reach out business has on Colorado.
In January 2022, we partnered with a restoration company to support the victims of the Marshall fires in Louisville and Superior, Colorado. While long, tiring days existed for nine months, the growth and feeling of a full heart by helping those in need is what allowed us to persevere.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The one thing I am most proud of is teaching my children about owning a small business, and that hard work does pay off. It doesn’t happen overnight, and there will be ups and downs. Staying positive and surrounding yourself with others who have been through the challenges of owning a business allows a greater support system to overcome the obstacles.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
Letting friends, family, and neighbors know about the services we provide and the long-term benefits is greatly appreciated. Collaboration happens over time and we best partner with Realtors, Property managers, Home Inspectors, and House Cleaners. Sharing social media posts is also a great, no-cost way to support us!
