Conversations with Shiloh Kime

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiloh Kime.

Hi Shiloh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved art but never thought I’d become a full time artist, until someone asked me to paint a mural in their baby nursery. I had so much fun and realized that I had never been happier doing anything in my life . I knew that I had to explore the creative side of me, so I began studying art. I bought many books on the subject that ranged anywhere from color theory, to how to draw and paint & more. I became obsessed. I practiced every night instead of doing the things that I usually did to waste time. I felt productive and like I had found my purpose. I couldn’t stop there. So I began promoting myself as an artist and offering children’s murals to anyone who had kids. After that I realized I needed more. I started studying more intricate art theories and techniques. I began doing pet portraits and then human portraits & larger, more challenging murals. I then found a job where I was teaching painting and grew again as an artist and learned how to articulate what I was painting and fell in love with teaching. But again , I wanted more. So I started studying esoteric symbolism and alchemy. I wanted to be able to hide messages and lost information throughout time I my paintings. Now, I continue building my art skills and find new ways to communicate with viewers subliminally. I plan to continue growing to see how far I can take my artistic journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth journey. I’m a self taught artist, so I was met with a lot of skepticism and doubt by the people around me . I was a broke college kid who barely had money for supplies and was judged pretty harshly throughout my growing process. But, the adversity fueled my desire and it all worked to my benefit.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for many things. My large murals on the outside and inside of buildings is one of my favorite accomplishments. But the thing I’m most known for is portraying esoteric knowledge through the use or ancient symbolism and alchemy. My most profound painting took 3 years to paint and it holds secrets of the universe along with subliminal messages of life, death and reincarnation .

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I teach painting in Denver Colorado and I share my work on platforms like instagram. @shilohart_
