Conversations with Tasjon Miles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasjon Miles.

Hi Tasjon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Was good! My name is Tasjon and all my life I have been a big believer in freedom of expression. This led to my art career beginning professionally on January 3rd, 2013. As an anime fan, my love for art developed at a very young age. Seeing the illustrations of Dragon Ball Z, Super Sonic, and a wide variety of other cartoons on Toonami brought about creations of my art coming to life. Some other influences in my life were Chelsea Nicole and Kehinde Wiley. Art is what helped provide me with an outlet to cope with all the trials and tribulations I’ve experienced.

My main two expressions of art are digital design and music. Starting back freshman year of high school in 2013 I created the name Mandatory $success Officials. To me, it was a pledge that no matter what road stood ahead I will create a foundation that was built from the ground up. I decided to take all the art that I’ve done throughout the years and create my own business which is Mandatory success Officials Clothing. I’m now able to bring my art designs to life with my clothing line and make music for my enjoyment.

I am happy to say the clothing line was officially founded on July 18th of 2021.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, although it’s safe to say I’ve become stronger than ever before. From losing many of my loved ones to failing school and struggling with financial issues, all hope was almost lost at many points in time. It has taken many years to find myself and understand my purpose in this world, which is still a challenge I face. As I mentioned before, without art giving me a form of expression, who knows where I’d be today. For not only myself but the people around me and in my future, giving up is not an option. One day I will look back and continue to be grateful for all the lessons learned along the way. A big one is L stands for a lesson, not loss. I have faith in knowing the end product of who I become will be from all the bumps in the road.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I created and currently run Mandatory success Officials Clothing alone. All digital designing is taken through the process of heat transfer, sublimation, or embroidery, depending on the clothing. I do owe a big thanks to @Freddietoons and every model working with me in the process of creating an upcoming clothing brand.

My specialty is putting together a final design of the product before being presented publicly. Also, creating a design that comes straight from my artistic vision.

I have been known as a creator from what is imagined. Anything that tells a story and can be brought into reality, I will make it happen.

I’m proud to see the determination and discipline gained from working in a small business. Furthermore, the amount of progress being made from day to day is heartwarming.

What sets me apart is using my life experiences, accomplishments, failures, and everything I live for to create this brand. No one on earth can be duplicated, making every living being special in their way. The same thing goes for my clothing. All products have been proven to be durable and long-lasting, not only the materials but the designs molded to them.

All the artwork is specially designed, meaning if you like to be different, you’ve found your home. From culture to views of the world, from memories that remind you of someone special. We encourage you to make your style mandatory. It’s another part of you.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Part of becoming who you wanna be will always involve taking risks. Being vulnerable enough to present my art to the world and take criticism, whether it be constructive or not can be scary. The fact of the matter is, if you never take the risk, you’ll never know what you could have become. Investing your time, energy, and money in your small business is a risk, because who knows if you’ll ever get it back. These are the thoughts that run through my head at times, but I always remember this is what makes me happy. The only regret I’ll ever have is wondering what could’ve happened if I had done it. If the outcome is not exactly what I was expecting, I know not to make the same mistake twice. One thing I’ll always remember: papa saying “Grandson, experience is some of the best wisdom I have.”
