Conversations with Tatsu Ogata

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatsu Ogata. 

Hi Tatsu, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
This is a tough question as it’s hard to know where to begin. I would say that it starts with my 3 major passions in life and that’s, art, music, and fashion. All of these things have led me to where I am today in one way or another. But my story can go beyond that. 

My whole life I have been an artist and have done art in all its forms. Whether that was painting, cooking, drawing, graphic art, jewelry, music, or clothing design. All of these things have been such a big part of my life and have led me to travel the world and explore new opportunities in many different subjects. When I was a kid, I always had a thing for clothing, and looking good was everything to me especially since I was so into art and design and my clothing was just another expression of that. As I got older, I found music and it was the music that really put me out into the world. I was and still am an electronic music producer, I just don’t tour anymore. But doing music for so long helped me see the world and it opened up the door to graphic design and graphic art. I started out designing my own marketing pieces that then lead to making things for another artist which then lead to me opening my first business, a design studio. Once I started with that, I began getting into sartorial fashion that led to my custom suit shop here in Cherry Creek Denver. Now that I’ve had a taste of business I just wanted more. Now I invest in a lot of businesses and I am helping to build more and expand both my clothing brand as well as my design brand, and that’s just the beginning. 

When it comes to where I’ve been and how I started and what my life has been like, I would say that it has been nothing less than amazing. Like all others though, of course, I’ve had my struggles and ups and downs. But I am lucky to have done so much and to have seen so much, to experience life to the fullest! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! I’m had many struggles along the way and a lot of them were learning pains I guess you could say. Both just professionally and personally. I had my fair share of failed things but it never stopped me from moving forward and keeping going. Honestly, my two biggest struggles have been my ongoing fight with depression that can sometimes keep me from things, and as always the learning curve to starting something new. I mean who doesn’t struggle with that. Especially now with how the world has been. We are all Navigating through this time together with not knowing what to do or where to go or how to adjust. but we roll the punches and we make the best out of the situation and never give up. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Knowing more about my professional life and career has always been somewhat of a struggle to explain because I’ve always been a little all over the place. I specialize in art, music, and fashion. with that being said I’ve had my design studio for over 8 years now where I do graphic design, album artwork, web design, and more. When it comes to my music, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to produce music under some of the best labels and play some of the most amazing festivals around the world. and when it comes to my fashion, I’ve been lucky enough to Enjoy passion with my everyday career by designing fun and elegant custom clothing for men and women. my main focus when it comes to clothing has always been sartorial fashion (suits). but like I have said before all these things are just an artistic expression that I love every day! 

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Honestly, a couple things one never stop becoming the best version of yourself that you can possibly be and to never give up on the things that you love and the dreams you want accomplish, always keep moving forward, and always keep pursuing your own happiness.
