Conversations with Taylor Dinh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Dinh.

Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business through the pandemic as passive income! Little did I know that I’d fall in love so fast. I always grew up around the photography scene but I never knew the excitement for the hobby. Through connections and word of mouth, I ended up having my business start booking at the beginning of 2022!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been as smooth as I thought. The struggle of differing myself from the other photographers has been a hard thing but also finding my voice in the community. It’s easy for people to step all over you if you’re new but why would we do that when we could lift each other up and encourage those joining the photography community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a couples & individuals photographer! I’m a lover of all things about you and your story! If you were to ask my clients, I’m definitely known for having fun and laughing! Laughing shots are key to me and the sessions I offer for people because it allows my clients to open up about who they are and feel comfortable. I am most proud of the photos I’ve recently shot when traveling for photography. I think what sets me apart from other photographers is the way I treat my craft. A lot of photographers can get to a great part where everything is amazing but never continue to hone in on the craft. Photography can be learned overnight but producing photos in excellent quality is something everyone should strive for. Investing in yourself and your business is huge for your growth and success.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I used to think that mentoring was scary to ask for in the creative field! The best advice I think I have for networking is to ask multiple perspectives! I have a few mentors/networking ladies who I’ve met with and they all differ. Not only do they differ in age but in their specialty, their editing styles, the type of photography they prefer, and their experience!
