Conversations with Taylor Sadusky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Sadusky

Taylor , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Denver my whole life. I have always been an avid sports lover and followed all my local teams such as the Nuggets, Buffaloes, Broncos, and Avalanche. I also grew up being involved in the game whether it was playing basketball or dancing. I also grew up working the scoreboard for all of my brother’s hockey games with my mom. We as a whole family are very sports-oriented. This grew my love into a career as I got older. I admired the work Erin Andrews and Doris Burke had done and I wanted to be like them my whole life, being such dynamic women in the industry.

This led me to the University of Colorado Boulder. I loved this school my whole life and knew they had great opportunities in the sports media realm. Throughout my time at CU Boulder, I was involved with student media. We got the chance to be credentialed for any game and attend press conferences and practices. Students had the chance to work behind and in front of the camera whether it was reporting, anchoring live shows, taking pictures, making graphics, etc. It was an amazing experience to get under my belt and helped build my portfolio to start applying for jobs out of college. It’s very competitive and I ended up hearing 197 rejections from jobs until landing my first ever post-graduation career. It was so discouraging to constantly hear no but that one yes was what projected me to further my career.

I started working for Sports Illustrated as a reporter for the Colorado Buffaloes in March of 2024. Covering this team brought so much attention to myself and my work. Having Deion Sanders ‘Coach Prime’ as head coach brought so much spotlight to Colorado. I was able to gain a rapid following, build connections, travel, and build my brand. In just a month I went from 500 followers on X to 2.5k followers. This team in general was the highlight of the sports world with Heisman winner Travis Hunter and QB1 Shedeur Sanders. The amount of celebrities and experiences I had in just a season is unheard of. You never knew what to expect each week and were always on your toes. Continuing my career I still do a lot of freelance work for a lot of teams and athletes. Most recently active in betting for Denver Sports Betting and becoming a wardrobe stylist for several professional athletes. I love what I do and I look forward to not only growing but reaching the goals and dreams I still have for my career down the line!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This is by far not a smooth road at all. So many sleepless nights, unpaid gigs, and constant rejection. You learn who to trust and how confidence can take you far. I struggled even just breaking into the sports industry. I felt overlooked, and underappreciated with no success. I had to be patient to get the call as a reporter. Even having a role I dreamed about for years I still faced the challenges of being in a male-dominated field but learned quickly that the good does outweigh the bad. More men than not are willing to treat you with the same respect and acceptance. I encountered bosses and coworkers who would limit me and sexualize me which made me very uncomfortable and upset. It was a bumpy road but it made me stronger in the end. With all that said, I’m so glad to have gone through this adversity because my skin is thick, and I and confident in my work and who I am. I grew up shy and scared of my own shadow to now very outgoing and relentless.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am proud of the confidence and growth I have had in my career. I love to be in front of the camera and conduct interviews with players and coaches. I am a very inquisitive person so I am always asking questions and being a student to the game. I specialize in reporting and hosting. As a reporter, I sideline report, write for sites, and meet with players and coaches. I am known for having a different view of the game and coming up with creative ways to display it. I am proud of how I carry myself in front of a camera because I have grown a lot since my first live show 6 years ago. In recent years I also improved my editing and filming abilities creating higher quality content. In the Denver Sports Media realm, it isn’t as diverse of a market as one would like it so it’s easy to stand out when you have new ideas, concepts, and outlook on the game. I love the idea of being different and allowing my work to have a category of its own. I love connecting and networking with others and learning from established professionals in the industry.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans are still to be working for either the NBA or NFL full-time. Whether it is for the leagues as a whole or individual teams. I want to reach my childhood dream of becoming like Erin Andrews and her level of success. I want to become a big figure within the industry as well as be a role model for others. I rarely say no to any opportunity because any amount of experience you can have is highly recommended. I don’t have a plan, more so a path to success while being accepting of any changes or obstacles I may have down the line. I want to share my success with my Mom, she taught me to love sports and how they are played, and she deserves every ounce of success I obtain because it wouldn’t be possible without her. I am looking forward to the unknown and the growth I will have as I get older.
