Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Jordan.
Whitney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career as a receptionist in an ALF facility in 2009. I really loved interacting with the residents, so I became a caregiver/CNA/QMAP. I then began doing home health and wound care for both Home Health companies and private pay individuals. I moved to Colorado in 2018 where I continued caring for individuals through various care companies. I was the assistant administrator for a home health facility and then transitioned to a role as a traumatic brain injury victims life coach. I stayed in that role until I found my calling at Bross ALF, where I am now the administrator.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely has not always been a smooth road. Anybody in Healthcare has an extremely demanding profession, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. You meet lots of amazing individuals and families, you get attached, and sometimes you have to let go. Pay is sometimes an issue as well. Healthcare workers, especially CNA’s and caregivers are grossly underpaid for the amount of care, love and time that go into their job.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently the administrator of an ALF, but have always had a love and passion for senior care. I am currently the education chair member for the CALA board. I am known for my bright smile and cheery disposition. I am known for my adaptability with people of all sorts. I am proud of my passion and dedication for our seniors and the care they deserve.
What does success mean to you?
I believe success is the amount of good you do in this world. I believe to be successful you have to be a good person and lead a joyous, helpful and rewarding life.
