Daily Inspiration: Meet Abigail Lohmann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Lohmann.

Hi Abigail, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Mountain View Equestrian was founded in 2022 with only one rider and one horse. It has now expanded to three horses and many riders. We are committed to helping riders of all ages learn to ride and love horses at an affordable price. Whether you or your child is brand new to horses or already dreaming of cantering across the fields, we offer lessons that meet them at their level. Our horses are gentle and well-trained, and we always prioritize safety, patience, and fun.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. Along the way, I have had to deal with injured horses, canceled lessons, events with little interest, tough weather, and many other hardships. However, I persevered through the tough days and that is why I am where I am today!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I started and run a western riding school out of Golden, Colorado dedicated to providing top-notch horse riding education at affordable prices. Our mission is to foster a love for riding while ensuring the safety and well-being of both horses and riders. At Mountain View Equestrian, we believe that horses have the power to teach us far more than just how to ride—they help us grow in confidence, patience, responsibility, and connection. Our program is built on the foundation of respect: respect for the horse, for ourselves, and for each other. We aim to create a welcoming, down-to-earth environment where riders of all ages can safely learn, explore, and fall in love with the Western lifestyle. Whether you’re here for your very first ride or continuing your riding journey, every rider is met with encouragement and care. Our lessons are all taught by a knowledgeable and passionate teenage who brings years of hands-on experience and a genuine love for horses. I serve as a relatable, enthusiastic mentor and help create a fun and encouraging learning environment. We believe learning to ride should be fun, hands-on, and heart-driven. That’s why our lessons and events go beyond the saddle—we teach grooming, groundwork, horsemanship, and the day-to-day realities of life with horses.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along the journey is to always be proud of the work you do. The more you show people why your business is impressive, the more interested they are. If you are confident that your business is worthwhile, everyone around you will be too. I have learned to confidently tell people that I run this business at a young age and have worked very hard to be where I am today.
