Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Lewandowski.
Hi Amber, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a love for both creativity, fashion, and the rave community. I’ve always been passionate about music, clothing deisgn, and self-expression, and I found myself constantly looking for ways to merge those interests into something meaningful.
I started creating my own outfits to wear to these events, and slowly but surely, I started getting asked by friends and family to make them clothes for similar events. This is when I launched my business, LewCe- I wanted to create something that not only filled the space. of custom, one-of-a-kind, sustainable fashion, but also celebrated individuality. From the start, it has always been super grassroots: sewing pieces by hand and with my machines, connecting with people on social media, and literally packing orders from my kitchen floor. Most materials used are sourced from secondhand retailers. Whether it’s fabrics, zippers, buttons, or pendants, I do my best to create each piece with sustainability at the forefront of everything I do.
Although my skills have evolved and I’ve upgraded my tools and machines over time, many of the core processes I developed in the early days are still part of how I create today. There’s something special about that consistency, it keeps me connected to my roots. I truly feel so blessed and grateful every day that I get to call this my job. Being able to create art that resonates with people and brings them joy is an incredible feeling. I genuinely can’t imagine a better career for myself- it feels like I hit the jackpot.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Since I first started, I have been running my entire business out of my tiny apartment. Every inch of space is taken up by fabric, shipping supplies, and machines. I am packaging orders in my living room and sewing at my kitchen table. My coat closet? You mean my closet that is stuffed to the brim with fabric and other thrifted supplies. It’s chaotic, but it is party of LewCe’s story.
One of the biggest challenges has been the fact that I had little to no prior sewing experience when I started. Everything I’ve learned has been through trial, error, and YouTube. Honestly, when a customer asks for something I’ve never done before, I usually just say “yes” ,and then cross my fingers I can figure it out in time. It’s terrifying, but also kind of magical. That constant push outside my comfort zone is what’s helped me grow, both as a creator and a business owner.
I’ve been at this for four years now, and while I’m proud of how far I’ve come, I know I’m still just getting started. The vision I have for where I want to take this brand, and the community I want to build around it, is so much bigger, and I’m committed to putting in the work to get there.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind reworked pieces. I cut and sew everything by hand, turning existing materials into bold, expressive new clothing pieces. My work is rooted in sustainability and individuality, and I love bringing new life to things that might otherwise go unused or get sent to landfills.
I create a mix of rave sets, streetwear, and custom pieces, but I’m probably most well-known for my merch reworks. Taking artist or festival merch and transforming it into something completely original, while still honoring its original vibe. This has really become my signature. It’s a blend of nostalgia and fashion that my customers connect with in a really personal way. I am able to rescue their old merch that they love but never wear, and turn it into something they will never want to take off.
What sets my work apart is that every piece is made with intention and originality. No two items are the same. When it comes to custom orders, a client sends me their clothes that bring back memories from a time in their life, and I am able to restore them. I think that’s why people feel so connected to what I make — they see themselves in it, and they feel a part of the design process from start to finish.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built this all from the ground up, with no formal training or help from employees, influencer marketing, etc. Just passion, persistence, and a lot of trial and error. And through that, I’ve created a community of people who care about self-expression, sustainability, and supporting small creators.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
