Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrea Giron Mathern

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Giron Mathern.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
All the Grief began with a rupture. In 2022, Andrea’s father died suddenly. In the wake of that loss, she noticed something unexpected: when she spoke openly about her grief, people responded by sharing their own. These exchanges revealed how hungry we are for spaces where grief can be witnessed, named, and honored — without judgment or time limits.
Out of that recognition, Andrea reached out to Rebecca, a therapist whose work is rooted in helping people move through loss and transformation. Together, they began asking questions: What happens when we stop pretending grief is something to “get over”? How might grief connect us — not only to those we’ve lost, but also to one another, and to life itself?
From those questions, the podcast was born. All the Grief is not about fixing, or offering neat answers. It’s about opening conversation. Each episode holds stories of loss in its many forms — death, change, endings, transitions — and invites listeners to step into the shared, human truth that we are all carrying grief.
At its heart, All the Grief is an offering: a reminder that none of us are meant to grieve alone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges has been remembering that All the Grief is carried entirely by just the two of us. Every detail — from recording, editing, and producing, to scheduling guests, managing the website, and covering the costs — comes back to us. It’s a labor of love, but also a reminder of the energy, time, and resources it takes to hold a project like this.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Rebecca is an artist, psychotherapist, grief guide, philosopher, and fellow griever. She leans into the spaces our culture leans away from, making room for the full experience of being human and alive. She loves diving deep into the mystery of our existence. She believes in ritual and meditation and finding stillness and making noise. She honors all that arises in the sacred process of moving through loss and honoring grief.

Andrea is an entrepreneur (Via Divina Botanicals), podcast host, spiritual guide, and grief facilitator. She is a trained social scientist with a PhD in Research & Evaluation Methods who worked in museums, libraries, and philanthropic foundations researching belonging. After grief turned her world upside down she embarked on a spiritual journey to embrace the complexities of loss, grief, and how our connections to the spiritual world can support our growth.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, our hope is to keep widening the circle. We want to continue bringing in diverse voices and stories of grief, because grief shows up in so many forms and across every community. Now, more than ever we are all experiencing grief and loss and creating spaces for that to be seen and felt are vital.
We’re also exploring ways to make the podcast more sustainable — through partnerships, live conversations, and continuing to test our 1-day grief gatherings and our grief retreats so that people can engage with their own grief in community.
At the core, our plan is simple: to keep making space for grief to be spoken, heard, and honored — and to remind people they don’t have to carry it alone.

Pricing:

  • Grief Gatherings (1-day) $195
  • Grief Mountain Retreats (3-day) $550 (early bird ($425)
