Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrew Vos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Vos.

Andrew Vos

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started back in middle school when I first started running. Realizing I was decent at it I kept with it throughout high school to be one of the top runners in Wisconsin. Took my talents to D1 college and ran cross country and track there. After college continued to competitively run. Due to injuries and some other things, I switched over to triathlon where I quickly started having success.

Placing 10th at Triathlon World Championships in Abu Dhabi in 2022, was named USA Triathlete of the Year in 2022. 2023 placed 2nd at the World Championship in Ibiza, Spain for Duathlon (run, bike, run). Now my focus is the Ironman 70.3 World Championship this December in New Zealand. I also held a Guinness World Record which stood for 2 years from 2020-2022. I ran the fastest mile while pushing my son in a stroller.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a rollercoaster-like all things in life. Battled injuries, had 8 knee surgeries, iron deficiencies, and had to adapt to family life now that we have 2 young kids. Lots of late-night swims and/or early 5 am alarms going off to get a workout in before the family gets up. Family comes first and there are never enough hours in the day to do it all so I have to prioritize and manage the best I can.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Work for me consists of a lot of things. I do have a full-time job as a financial controller of a company in Boulder called Maty’s Products. Also, own a children’s hat company called Wild & Free Hats, manage a couple of rental properties that we own, and of course triathlon racing.

I’m probably most proud that I can show my kids that to be good at something you have to be dedicated. They understand that I work hard to train and because of that success has come. They travel all over the world with me to my races and they get to experience it first-hand. It’s a great lesson we are teaching them that living an active fun lifestyle is important.

I feel what sets me apart from most people is I understand life doesn’t come easy and won’t always be smooth, being able to adapt to the changes and challenges allows me to push past all that noise and makes special moments even better. Those are the things that drive me. Not necessarily the big things in life but the little moments that I’ll remember forever.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I work directly with a lot of companies/sponsors through social media and at race events helping drive awareness to certain brands and in group runs/rides.
