Daily Inspiration: Meet Annah Meintzer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annah Meintzer.

Hi Annah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2018 and received my Bachelor of Arts in Photography. The following year, I moved to Boulder kind of on a whim with the guy I was dating at the time. We broke up a few months later and I began my journey living on my own in Colorado! I worked a 9-5 for about a year while running my business on the side. This past May, I quit my 9-5 and began pursuing my photography business full time without distractions.

Since making that big decision, my life has taken such an unexpected, positive turn. I started relying on myself to make life choices instead of putting others’ opinions and input on a pedestal for my life decisions. I’ve begun prioritizing experiences and my mental health rather than working nonstop. I now know when to take breaks and I give myself grace when things don’t go as planned.

As a portrait photographer, I do my best to reflect my life values in the way that I work. I’m a chatterbox and I place importance on getting to know people on a friend level during our time together at a photo session. I look for the authentic, candid moments where my subjects look and feel most like themselves. I want them to fully express their true selves. I aim to share my passion for documentation and preservation through photography. I believe that each moment of life is magic and there are endless ordinary moments to be photographed and preserved.

Today, I spend most of my time in the Denver area, snowboarding, going to concerts, and spending time with people I love the most. I love traveling for work and am often in Boulder and Silverthorne as well.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Running my own business has challenged me to think about the way I want to lead my life and business because it’s all up to me each day! In the past, I’ve struggled with trusting my own thoughts and choices, so being my own boss has really tested my self trust. I’m always learning something new about myself in life and in business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Colorado Portrait Photographer specializing in couples’ photos, high school, and college photos, weddings, headshots for professionals, and marketing photos for small business owners.

I take pride in my ability to talk with my clients during our session and take the pressure off of having their photo taken. I consider myself a conversationalist and am endlessly curious about all things. I ask questions along the way and like to make the experience as relaxed as it can be. I love being outside, so I love natural light photos. Sunrise sessions are a favorite of mine. They’re always magical when not many other people are out.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love podcasts where I can learn or consider a new perspective on something. I’ve found a lot of value in “The Minimalists” podcast, “The Mark Groves Podcast” and “Science Friday” I also enjoy reading books on self-development and spirituality like “the Four Agreements” “How to Change Your Mind” and “10 Percent Happier”
