Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Akbar.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
There are two main pieces to my journey: being a psychic medium and becoming an intuitive wellness coach.
I didn’t become a medium—it’s simply who I am. I’ve had the ability to communicate with those who have passed since I was a child. It’s always come naturally. However, it wasn’t until I experienced a major life transition as a young adult that I truly realized the depth of my gift. From that point on, my connection grew stronger, as did the joy I feel in helping others navigate something as sensitive as grief and loss. Whether it’s offering hope, closure, or simply comfort, I help people see that death is an illusion—our loved ones never really leave us; they’re still with us, just in a different way.
My path to becoming an intuitive wellness coach was more turbulent. I’ve had health challenges throughout my life—nothing extreme at first, but I always felt a deep inner calling to take better care of myself physically. On the emotional side, I carried a heavy load of trauma. I had my first child as a teenager and nearly died during childbirth. Then I experienced the turmoil of a 7 year abusive relationship. Years later, I got COVID and developed long COVID, which brought life-altering symptoms and complications. That was the breaking point for my nervous system and overall health. But it also became the beginning of a beautiful journey into holistic healing and nervous system regulation.
Now, I combine my psychic abilities with intuitive insights and health science to help others heal the emotional roots of their symptoms. I deeply believe the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. So much of our physical illness is linked to unprocessed trauma, limiting belief systems, and emotional stress. My work helps people recognize and shift those patterns so true healing can begin.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. The illness and trauma I’ve experienced were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever faced—there were moments I truly didn’t think I’d make it through. But I did, and I came out on the other side with purpose. I can now look back with clarity and see why each chapter unfolded the way it did. I also believe that you can’t teach what you haven’t lived. Being able to transform my pain and trauma into something that helps others gives it all deeper meaning.
Being a medium has had its own challenges, too. It’s not something that’s always accepted or understood. I’ve encountered plenty of skepticism. On a personal level, embracing this part of myself wasn’t easy—I grew up in a traditionally religious family and went to church as a child, where these abilities weren’t seen as real or welcome. It took a lot of inner work and courage to stand in my truth and own my gifts. Honestly, it still does sometimes. But I’ve learned that I’m not here to convince anyone. The people who are meant to find me do—and always will.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work in a few different areas when it comes to my intuitive abilities. I communicate with loved ones who have passed on, I offer oracle card readings to connect with a person’s energy and spirit guides for insight and guidance, and I sometimes participate in or host meditation circles and spiritual seminars. I also offer intuitive wellness coaching, where I help clients explore and heal the emotional roots of their physical symptoms—bringing together mind, body, and spirit.
What truly sets me apart is my commitment to being ethical and honest in everything I do. That’s also what I’m most proud of. When people hear “psychic medium,” they often imagine something out of a TV show—like predicting the exact future or describing someone’s future soulmate down to the last detail. I take pride in gently educating people about how these gifts actually work. My goal is never to sensationalize, but to empower, guide, and bring through real support in a grounded and authentic way.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is helping people—plain and simple. But more specifically, I’m passionate about helping others see themselves as more than just a body, but as a divine soul. I love guiding people to truly connect with themselves on a deeper level, to uncover and understand their core beliefs, and to begin healing from the inside out.
Spirituality can be a sensitive subject, and for some, even a rejected one—especially when it comes to things like communicating with spirits. But when I’m able to help someone open a new door—one that leads to more love, comfort, and even a sense of “magic”—it’s incredibly meaningful. There is so much more happening around us than we often realize, and I feel honored to help people begin to see that for themselves.
