Daily Inspiration: Meet Aurora Hendrix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aurora Hendrix.

Hi Aurora, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started our first shop in 2016. We were at that location for a few years before the building went up for sale. We packed up and moved 3 miles East into the 40 West Arts District. We planned on reopening in March of 2020. Then the pandemic hit. So, we had to push our reopening date back to August of 2020. It has been interesting navigating through shutdowns and mandates. We definitely had to get crafty and think out of the box. Thankfully most of our customers followed us to our new location. The community here has welcomed us with open arms.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic has been interesting to navigate through. We have had to get creative with ways to still serve our community and keep everyone safe. At the same time, we have had some fun opportunities to branch out from the norm. For example, we were part of a drive-through haunted house immersive experience in October of 2020.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been a stay-at-home mom for 19 years. I love spending time with my friends, family and being a part of the art community. Opening a coffee shop created a way for me to be able to have all of those things in one place.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Get involved with your community as much as possible. They will be your biggest advocates.
