Daily Inspiration: Meet Avery Mahoney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avery Mahoney.

Avery, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been a professional photographer for a little over 4.5 years now, and moved to Colorado Springs 3 years ago to grow the business further! I am full time with weddings and elopements & it has been the greatest journey. My husband Jake Mahoney, has now started working with me offering video services & working together as a husband and wife duo is the best experience!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a smooth road. Definitely some learning curves along the way, but makes my success more rewarding! Some struggles are the busy summer work load (which is a great thing!) and balancing my schedule family, friends & days off! Being from Texas, I still struggle in the winter with it being a lot slower due to the snow, but this is the time I take advantage of to relax and update my websites and other things to better the business!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I focus on weddings and elopements! I have a very casual approach when communicating with clients, but I feel it helps them open up to me and feel more comfortable working with me! I want all of my clients to feel they can fully be themselves and I am there to help capture and create their special day exactly how they envision it! I have a very bubbly personality and I feel it is my strongest quality in this line of work.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I definitely recommend reaching out to other business owners in your field that you admire! They might be willing to chat and go over different business ideas with you, or just offer guidance on certain situations. Friends over competition, always!
