Daily Inspiration: Meet Beezie Conwell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beezie Conwell.

Hi Beezie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My journey with music started around 2005 while in high school. It started as me joking around with one of my close friends (You Gene Write) about how I can rap too because he was already into music while I was more so into sports at the time. I wrote poetry here and there but for some crazy reason, he invited me to his studio at his house and let me record a song. I truly didn’t know what I was doing at the time but he saw something in me and encouraged me to keep going.

Over the years I grew to love recording music because it gave me an outlet to express myself and be heard. When sports didn’t work out for me like I thought it would, I started taking music more seriously. I sat back and watched the music scene in my city and studied some of the greats in the music game to better my craft and flow.

I wanted to be different from everyone and to stand out from the crowd and I did just that. S/o to my brothers Michael Kure & Christyle. We formed a group recently titled “Back2Self” and I must admit that everything we do is top-tier! Make sure to look us up & check us out. Also, I just want to thank my brother You Gene Write for seeing what he saw in me pushing me to be where I’m at today. And special s/o to Frank Luke for being who you are bro.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I really wouldn’t say it was a smooth road. Nothing worth having comes easy, so it’s going to be struggles along the way. Bad business and dealing with people who don’t have your best interest at heart are all a part of the game. It’s just growing pains. It teaches you how to move correctly in this business. Life also has gotten in the way at times on this journey of mine to the point I wanted to give up music altogether. Through it, all music always found its way back to me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I honestly don’t like to call myself a rapper, I more so like to call myself an artist as well as a creator. I specialize in storytelling through my music. I paint pictures through my words for the ones who’s gone through similar things I have but just don’t have the same voice or platform as I do.

I know it may sound cliche but I’m proud of a lot. I am proud of how far I’ve come as well as how much I’ve grown mentally, physically and spiritually on this journey.

I’m proud of being a father to my beautiful daughter. I’m proud of being a positive influencer and role model to some people. I’m proud of the accomplishments I’ve accomplished along the way as well as the people I keep around me. I’m proud of my parents for being there with me through it all. What sets me apart from others is just me being me. I don’t pretend to be anything or somebody I’m not. I stay true to myself at all times. Everything is more genuine that way.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is simply to watch the company you keep and always do good business.
