Daily Inspiration: Meet Ben Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Bryant.

Hi Ben, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We started Denver Comedy Underground to give people a comedy experience like no other in Denver. Where people can enjoy high-quality comedy without the baggage that comes with going to a comedy club or to a bar show. Originally, we did showcases out of the basement of a murky Colfax Irish bar, but the bar began to struggle, and we moved to a wonderful theatre in the below ground level of the Althea Center and we’ve flourished ever since! We’ve been able to have awesome shows and we have some of the best crowds and regulars in all of comedy!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The initial startup was hard. People have to know about us to come to the show. We’re kind of hidden and we only do comedy in the venue. It’s not like a bar where there’s already people there. People have to find us or hear about us. Our second month running we nearly went bankrupt after some bad bookings. But we were able to stay afloat due to our amazing community and sponsors (shout out to LivWell enlightened health!) and we’ve only grown after that very scary month!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Ben Bryant and I produce and write and make comedy. I’ve been named the “hardest working comic in Denver”. I made a web series that got on Adult Swim. I run my own comedy club called Denver Comedy Underground that I started with my own money that I made from selling video games during the pandemic. My shows have been named “best comedy night in America” and I’ve done a lot of cool comedy shows, clubs, and festivals and worked with most of my comedy heroes. I want to also write for television and my current dream is to get my WGA card.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m pretty open/annoying so people probably know most stuff about me. Maybe that my first tv appearance was when I was 10 when I was on PBS through my school. Shouts out to Mrs. Root. First-person to give me a gig

Pricing:

  • Tickets are cheaper than every other comedy club in the area ($10-$15)
  • We have free pizza some shows!
  • We have free drinks on the other shows!
  • Free parking and no two-item minimum!
