Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl {Moe} Prefered.
Hi Carl {Moe}, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started playing music in high school and it just stuck. It wasn’t until my middle 20’s that I started getting serious. If I only knew then, what I know now, lol. Looking back, I realized I blew a lot of chances, being unprepared, young and not so bright. You live, you learn, Hopefully.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not really been smooth, but usually by my on hand. There were many struggles along the way, drugs, booze and bad relationships. The normal pitfalls that some young dumb people succumb to. I must have been watched over by some benevolent being. I feel grateful that I made it this far. It’s not over yet. It took a long time to figure some of this stuff out and I am working daily to improve. There’s always room for that.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My specialty I guess would be entertaining, and songwriting. It’s in my blood and I guess it’s there to stay. These days it seems that it’s more about encouraging the people in my community that have a desire to perform but don’t really know how to go about it. Something I wished would’ve been available to me when I was first starting out, and maybe it was, but I was too blind to see. I would like to plug a musical series I have been hosting for the last two years called Storytellers, where I put 3 singer songwriters on a stage and they tell a story and sing a song about that story. I did not invent this concept but am honored to be able to share their craft with the community.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support my cause in many ways, buy the CD’s , support the live shows and not just mine, but all those trying to forge a living out of the arts, not just music but all of the arts. And be kind, that’s something that doesn’t cost a dime. And if someone wants to reach out to me, just type in moecool11@gmail.com in whatever email service they use and drop a line. Or go to The Moetones on CD Baby and purchase some merch, lol Actually, I love to hear from people. At this time I wish to thank a few important people in my life, my partner Tomoe who puts up with my ways, supports me in most all of the things I choose to do and for being my favorite bass player, and Jodi Jahrling for providing a place here in Cortez to nurture those of all the arts. And thank you Mike, for this opportunity. It’s been an honor.
