Daily Inspiration: Meet Cassandra Lohr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Lohr.

Hi Cassandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As an interior designer, I have worked on a large variety of projects ranging from luxury estates in Aspen to rustic log homes and a tepee that was featured on the cover of a top international design magazine and national television. The upcoming Fall issue of Mountain Living will feature one of the most recent homes we have completed.

Over the years my career has expanded to include art collections and television production.

My design portfolio and bio can be viewed on my website www.cassandradesign.com

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Creating beautiful homes for my clients is truly a joy, but just like any career, there can be challenges along the way. We strive to make installation day for our clients flawless, which takes a good amount of organization and planning. However, unexpected problems can pop up at the last minute. Here’s one example – My crew and I were in the process of installing all of the furniture and rugs for a large rural home in the mountains. We unexpectantly ran into issues when we realized that a four-man crew was not enough to lift an unusually heavy desk and credenza up the winding staircase to the second floor. Typically, crews have to be booked well in advance, but fortunately Student Movers came to our rescue by immediately sending an additional crew to make the 4-hour drive. By the time the clients arrived, everything was in perfect order,

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Interior design is an expression of art. I love working with clients to help them create their dream vision. Many of the homes I have designed have been featured in magazines and books.

Additionally, I have produced an educational art and history show for a one-hour PBS Television show.

How do you think about luck?
Yes, on occasion I have been in the right place at the right time to meet the perfect client or job opportunity. The tepee project was certainly brought about by serendipity.
