Daily Inspiration: Meet Charles Buck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Buck.

Hi Charles, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After meeting my fiancé, I decided to look inward for self-growth as she inspired me to improve. With that, I joined the John Maxwell speaker coach program for certifications in both said-mentioned careers. At the same time, I began writing my now-published memoir and now-published inspirational quote book.

I utilize both as my subject matter in my speaking and coaching business in which I assist struggling individuals rather they be successful in life and want a boost or perhaps they are working in areas and want some help navigating through issues by someone who has had his fair share of problems. Most of which were self-inflicted.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life is easy to get if it’s worth having. My life, like many, has been filled with challenges, and yes, getting here was full of obstacles. Filled with self-doubt, worry of repeating past failures, and simple fear of failure haunted me. I successfully retired from the United States Marine Corps in 2010, but not without issue, and I assure you this, I got in my way many times. Perhaps it was alcohol abuse, my smart mouth, or my aggressive nature; I found myself quite in turmoil. Good thing I was good at what I did, leading Marines and making things happen. Being strong-willed, always decisive, and mentally strong in times of adversity, I refused to fail, at least not on my own accord, and that was done by never quitting, no matter what. I didn’t make it easy on myself, like my parents always said, “You sure know how to do it the hard way.” After retirement, I moved into the corporate world; I thought I had many things figured out. I earned my Bachelor’s in Business and, shortly after, my MBA. But what I did bring along from childhood trauma and from my Marine Corps times, whether combat or in garrison, there was plenty of trauma.

With that, I had it all neatly packed inside me.  When one does that, they indecently utilize those life lessons, good or bad, as tools for future use, and if not correctly thought through when using them, those tools will create or make the same mistakes they made before, just in a different world. Then the past few years, after some trials and tribulations, I found myself very successful and proud of my cooperation time. But it wasn’t enough, so I decided to venture into a new world, and now I was treading in areas I had never stepped foot in. So, my past life lessons didn’t help me through it as much as I hoped, well, not outside of perseverance and facing adversity head-on, that I had down to a “T.” Everything was a learning curve, but those learning curves only made me stronger and wiser. This is precisely what I am trying to portray to others; the key to success is desire and perseverance.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Honesty in all things. I portray this in my memoir, “My Own Worst Enemy.” I am raw and open, putting myself out there for all to see and judge. And that’s, okay, that was the purpose of the book. To be honest with me and with others. Hoping that it will help others to do the same, look within, and be better. Better at everything, but mostly living. Then my inspirational quote book, “What Resonates,” is full of my favorite quotes and how they resonated with me. I explain each one and why.

Now I am working on a Fiction book that I hope grows into a series. This book describes the journey of a man and his loan friend through life and the world after the Rapture and how to live in its new order and form with Watchers, Demons, Vampires, and those who also remain. No one helps, no one cares to help, only questions with no answers. It is a story of their search for redemption facing every possible threat that one could imagine, and this is done only by sheer desire, faith, and hopes that there is a chance.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
