Daily Inspiration: Meet Chuck Roy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Roy. 

Hi Chuck, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I flunked out of college and became a stand-up comedian. Early in my career, I appeared on Will & Grace and 3rd Rock from the Sun. After touring through Colorado, I decided to move here. Now, I teach Comedy and Show Business classes at the Community College of Denver. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I love being a comedian and teaching. One challenge to teaching was that I didn’t have a Master’s Degree. So, I pursued an MBA through Western Governor’s University. I graduated in June of 2021. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets Colorado Comedy Shows apart from others is that we devote time, resources, action, and 10% of our ticket and event fees to Elevating Connections, a local 501(c)(3) charity that provides programs for youth separated from their siblings by foster care. Our donations go towards supplying mobile technology, food assistance, and creative writing workshops for the youth. We also are working with the Community College of Denver to advocate for youth in foster care and help develop career pathways and post-secondary education.
