Today we’d like to introduce you to Coleen Orr.

Hi Coleen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I opened a hat shop in Alberta in 1992 after being fortunate enough to locate the rare vintage hat-making equipment in Corpus Christi Texas. I was raised on a ranch, so wearing a hat was not foreign to me, but I knew nothing about the manufacturing of them. The learning curve was steep initially, and even after 30 years, I continue to hone my skills.

In 1996 I married a Coloradan and moved to Denver. I provide custom hats for a wide variety of clients. From horsemen and musicians to fly fishermen and brides. Hats are very popular for both fashions in those seeking protection from the sun or weather. There is a wide variety of styles and shapes. A custom hat is not only made to the style of your choosing but custom fits the exact shape and size of your head.

Many people have challenges with fitting hats and are pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the custom fit feels. I am proud of the high-quality product produced in a custom-made hat. One of my favorite parts is working with the clients to find the perfect combination that suits their needs and character.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Hat-making equipment has not been manufactured for over sixty years and can be very difficult to locate. I continue to look for many specialty items that allow for a wide variety of options.
