Daily Inspiration: Meet Darian Baughman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darian Baughman. 

Hi Darian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a creative from a young age, most of the time It was just me sketching or doodling on some notepad. In high school, I took my first graphic design course and began to learn the basics of photoshop. That is also when I was first introduced to my first DSLR camera. College and playing soccer took away from my creative side a bit, just with everything else I had going on it seemed difficult to find time to get into that creative space. 

I worked in sales at Toyota for about 3 years until I turned 23 and decided it was time to move on and start working on my own doing something I enjoyed and was passionate about. 

Since then, I have been working on my own as a freelance Photographer and Designer 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not, was very wrapped up in the work-life at Toyota and did not realize that until I took a step away. 

It was hard building my own business and starting a media company after Toyota but every accomplishment is much more fulfilling knowing it was generated because of my own hard work and dedication. 

Learned that sometimes you have to take a couple steps backwards to move forward in a different direction with something new. Maybe it’s that initial leap! 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have always been known as a creative-minded individual. If you can think it, we can put it on paper or capture the perfect photo to bring your vision to life, being able to help bring other people’s vision to life is a very rewarding part about what I do. 

What were you like growing up?
I was always very into sports but had that creative side of me that always kept me doing cool different art projects. My cousin and I grew up drawing together and he is the one who helped me get into graphic art as well. graduating elementary school, I was names most artistic along with one other girl from my school.
