Daily Inspiration: Meet Dusk Skyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusk Skyes

Dusk, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We originally got together mid 2019, as freshman and sophomores in high school inspired by bands such as My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, and The Used; starting as just me, Drake, and a revolving door of anyone else we could convince to play with us around our school. In 2022, we came into contact with our first producer, Matt Zavakos, with whom we released our first single, “Poison Control,” in early 2023. We also began playing shows in 2022, having three official shows under our belt at the moment, with more to hopefully come. In late 2023, we found our current producer, Jason Anderson at Sonny Side Audio, with whom we have released our singles “Eat Me Alive” and “One of the Freaks.” To this day, we remain committed to creating and playing the music we love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any band has gone through struggles along the way, and No Reason to Care is no exception. With an unstable lineup and the 2020 pandemic beginning a few months after our initial formation, our first couple of years were very slow. Throughout the entire lifespan of the band, we’ve had trouble finding and keeping members, especially drummers. There have been many periods on our journey where it has just been Drake and I. We’ve remained resilient, however, and just focused on songwriting and recording while we’ve been unable to play live.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re and emo band with influences across many genres of music, from jazz, to metalcore, to classical and more. We aspire to make music from our hearts that both express ourselves and speaks to people. We are currently most known for our song “Poison Control,” but we’re much more proud of our recent works “Eat Me Alive” and “One of the Freaks,” as well as other stuff we’ve been working on that we haven’t yet announced.

How do you think about luck?
We’ve been very lucky with finding connections that have allowed us to grow our band. From other bands we have built relationships with, producers that have given us the ability to release our music internationally, friends and family who have supported us, and other musicians who have lent their skills to our stage performances, we are incredibly grateful to the people that have gotten us this far, and the people that continue to push us to be the best we can be.
