Daily Inspiration: Meet Erin Deardorff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Deardorff.

Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Life is an adventure and I love capturing the key memories along the way. What started as a blog to share my training and completion of a charity bike race led to a profound passion for capturing the meaningful snippets of my life. I know each action-packed or serene moment is fleeting, and I want to ensure the pause between shutter clicks is never lost. Each sale of my artwork includes a donation to support Alzheimer’s research or other charities to truly support my mission of Saving Memories by Making Memories and help us all remember the feeling of these moments even if the true memory eventually fades away. Step behind the lens with me and leave with more than a photo of worldly travels and the beauty of nature.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles for me was getting over the hurdle of just asking…Asking to hang my work at a place, asking other artists about their joruney and for recommendations, but what I found is people want to help people more than you think. Once I started down the path of trying and learning, I found that people have been very willing to help however they can. So much so that I am learning new skills and taking up new hobbies from fellow artists wanting to show me how to do things like paint.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer who discovered my passion through my adventures and desire to do something good for the world. While doing a charity bike ride, I established a blog to share with people the stories about training and the event itself. Through this, I discovered how much I love to share the world around us. I have taken a wide variety of pictures from my feet, skis, boat, board or bike. When asked, I can never pick a favorite photo, or a favorite destination. Who else deserves credit in your story?
I am lucky enough to live in Colorado and have had access to two of the most amazing art and small business areas. The Highlands in Denver is one of the most amazing communities with not only great food and shops, but also fantastic people who want to help their fellow people thrive. I have also spent a lot of time in the mountains and the people up there have encouraged me and pushed me to do many things with my photography that I never would have thought of. They look to shop local before they look elsewhere and in some cases push their friend’s businesses more than their own. I truly feel blessed to have met such wonderful artists and learn from them in every one of my encounters with them.
