Daily Inspiration: Meet Fourfold Sisterhood

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Fourfold Sisterhood.

Fourfold Sisterhood

Hello Fourfold Sisterhood, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Once upon a time, four women came together in a circle… The four of us have felt the calling to provide a safe, therapeutic, sacred space for our younger sisters.

Our individual journeys ignited an understanding of how important girlhood is in the vast expanse of our living experiences. We see a deep need for our generation to step in and cultivate a place for the young people of our time to flourish in the community through connection with each other and our beautiful natural world.

Through various paths of friendship and authentic connection with each other in our community, we discovered our shared passion for supporting our younger sisters and any youth identifying as girls. The four of us share common threads as holistic educators, nature lovers, and artists and have experienced the journey of girlhood first-hand.

The seeds of this project were planted in each of us many moons ago as we transitioned from girl to woman. Through varied experiences, we began to expand into the concept of what was missing for us as girls and how impactful it could be to bring that type of medicine forward for today’s girls.

We all approached conversations around the need for this kind of offering organically in conversation throughout our daily lives. Eventually, it seemed as if the seeds of times past began to receive the necessary water and light for this idea to sprout.

And then, we gathered… Once the four of us came together, the magic was undeniable. Everything flowed from us with ease, and from there, the program blossomed.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working together has felt incredibly effortless for us as a group. We have come together as a council of women, working in a very cohesive way. However, we found that it was necessary to respond to varying needs within our lives and the crises that girls of today are experiencing.

Our biggest struggle was managing the excitement we had for the project. Between the four of us, we have no shortage of ideas. We found that it was important to reign in the vastness of what we want to do in the grand scheme of this concept to focus on what aligns with our community’s needs at this moment in time.

Once we gathered as a group, we asked for input from our younger sisters. After listening to them and amplifying their voices, we learned that they deeply desired less – less noise, less things to do, less expectation, and more spaciousness. So that’s how we decided to design and structure our program. We wanted to create more opportunities for art, nature, and community rather than another assignment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
We are all educators and artists who feel that we have a responsibility to our young people.

Three out of four of us come from a Waldorf background, and we all draw from nature-based and art-inspired educational philosophies. Our program runs out of Becca’s Forest preschool (Seedlings), which gives us a sweet land to tend to and incorporate into this special community.

The most important piece for us as a group is that we strongly feel that our girls all have an innate wisdom that can enable them to know and embody their own worth. We see ourselves as path pavers, working to illuminate this wisdom with them so that they can reach this in their own time and space.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
It is imperative for us and our program to embody our intention to honor this time of life and the girls’ ability to lead themselves into their own becoming. We are not “doing” anything but simply creating a safe space for this medicine and wisdom to unfold.
