Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Luke.
Hi Frank, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Frank Luke. I was born in Longbeach, California but raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I was raised around music going back to my granddaddy and granny. All of my aunties are musically inclined and everybody sings. I started rapping at the age of 16 and have been on that ever since. My last name rings bells coming from my grandad so in my head I have a lot to carry but I’m willing to carry it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no. It’s very hard, to be honest. I come from a state where the music is not as popular as in Georgia or Florida. This is a slow State… we get things last and we’re still kinda stuck in the past with a lot of things. Also living in Birmingham it’s more of a trap music mindset. Trying to get my kind of music heard is a Lil harder.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist. In my eyes, I’m not the best lyricist in the game or my city but I know how to come on a track. My lyrics come from real-life experiences. I’m most proud of myself for staying hungry and continuing my journey without stopping. My determination and hunger for music set me apart from a lot of other artists.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Make sure you handle all your business music-wise… BMI ASCAP Distrokid. Make sure you always stay 2 steps ahead. It’s your music take care of it or somebody else will.
