Today we’d like to introduce you to Gray Brumage-Heller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started designing clothes and making visual art when I was 15 years old. Since then I’ve started a few clothing brands, worked for many more, and produced hundreds of pieces as a painter and visual artist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the road is never smooth for any artist. My life has certainly had its ups and downs, but art is like the glue that’s kept me together. Nobody wants to admit that they’ve made things that don’t sell, don’t get popular, don’t resonate… but that’s part of art. Not everything is always a huge success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in oil/ digital painting generally for clothing designs. My work has been worn by professional athletes, musicians, and most importantly lots of everyday people. I’m known mostly for painting angels and desert landscapes/ scenes. I’d say that’s my bread and butter. Most importantly I’m proud that I’ve been able to push painting into a fashion space. My work has been featured on garments sold to tens of thousands of people and that’s something I really appreciate.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest inspiration are my friends who are also creatives. They push me to better myself and I hope I do the same for them 🙂
