Today we’d like to introduce you to Hopefully Soon
Hi Hopefully, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I, Aaron, started Hopefully Soon as a personal project back in October 2022. It started as me playing covers on guitar and ukulele in a dusty overheated wood shop in the afterhours of my work days. As people continued to encourage the music I was playing, I began to write my own songs, and play them unreleased for quite some time. It started out as my personal emotional release, almost a breakaway from the realities of my life and the the struggles I seemed to always be facing. I had played in previous projects since 2006, but none were as personal and deep rooted as Hopefully Soon. The first single (Clouds) was released in Nov 2023. It was a very raw attempt at mixing and recording myself. Peoples seem to resonate well lyrically with the emotions behind that song. Hopefully Soon’s first live show was in Utah at the Gagged No More Festival, put on by Utah local bands. Ironically enough, me being from Denver, I was invited to play thanks to some really good friends I had made in a band called Gagg Nancy. I had taken the drive there to play a 45 minute, solo acoustic set, and when I had finished my set, there was an undeniable bond between me and the crowd out there. Fast forward a few months and I find myself putting together a 3 piece band around my songs. We played several shows together until it came time to go on tour. My other bandmates decided to part ways with me, so I went and completed the tour obligations yet again as a solo acoustic act. And again, those shows had so much crowd resonance. Now Hopefully Soon is officially a 2 member band with myself and a drummer (Bobby). We have been tearing it up together. Our latest release Tightrope exemplifies the work that Bobby and I have put in together to create a full sound using only 2 members. As it currently stand, we are trying out a new bassist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for the Hopefully Soon project as a whole. I would have to say that the one characteristic that is exemplified through both the being and the music message from Hopefully Soon is perseverance. Despite several setbacks and trials, every time Hopefully Soon is listed on a bill it has kept its obligations to perform. I kept Hopefully Soon going as a solo acoustic act when band members dropped off and ended up touring to multiple states. I kept Hopefully Soon playing despite almost a year of homelessness. No matter what, Hopefully Soon strives to push on through it all, and that is the message we want to bring to our listeners.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer songwriter, I take pride in being able to relate all of my felt and lived through emotions, and bring them to an audience that perhaps needs to have the encouragement that maybe they themselves aren’t getting. I would have to say as a specialty, I have a way to relate to a lot of people’s experiences, and also have people be able to relate to mine. I would have to say the weird thing that sets me apart from the other people in my genre would be that I am genetically diverse. Not many people who see me expect me to be able to sing or play guitar with the style that I bring to the table. Also, the songs are interesting enough to keep the listener engaged, but also digestible enough for listeners to not feel too overwhelmed. Musically speaking we generate the tension and feel good feeling when it’s appropriate in a song.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would have to say perseverance 100%. No matter what life throws at you, and believe me, it has a good arm, you can get through it with the right people to lean on and encourage you along the way.
