Daily Inspiration: Meet Ian Kersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Kersey. 

Hi Ian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was always enthusiastic about creating content from a very young age. I started my career around middle school where I created several YouTube channels on different topics of my interests at the time including “how-tos”, technology, fashion, and sneakers. I always knew I wanted to do something within the fashion/streetwear world but I didn’t know exactly how I wanted to go about it. I got my first break into the industry when the platform TikTok started taking off at the beginning of 2020. 

During the pandemic, I was locked in my house all day and started devoting a lot of time to making content. I started posting multiple TikTok’s a day until before I knew it, I was averaging hundreds of thousands of views for each video. My niche ended up being dedicated to streetwear and sneaker content. 

After I started growing my platform, numerous brands and companies started reaching out to work on projects together. Flash forward to two years later and I’ve had the opportunity to work with Nike SNKRS, Footlocker, mainstream artists, and many others that I had been inspired by growing up. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the biggest struggles as a content creator and entrepreneur are finding the perfect work/life balance and the need to constantly come up with new ideas. Consistently creating new things requires a lot of inspiration and I have found over time that I fall into complacency. It is easy to rinse and repeat the same style of videos over and over which I am working toward straying away from. 

One of the biggest struggles I am currently facing is managing my time with running a business, creating content, working two part-time jobs, and being a full-time student. It can be really easy to get caught up in one segment of life and completely space out the others. Finding the motivation can be one of the most challenging parts of being an entrepreneur as well as finding a compelling reason to continue what you do every day. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an entrepreneur, content creator, and lifelong student, also known for my social media platform @originalparadigms. I create content related to sneakers, fashion/streetwear, and photography. I have created multiple businesses at a young age from selling sneakers and clothes to photography freelancing. Apart from content creation, I am a full-time college student studying innovation, business, and entrepreneurship. 

I am most proud of being able to inspire and help people through my content. What sets me apart from others is my ambition and attention to detail. I see myself as a perfectionist and am constantly studying the algorithm. I value authenticity and self-improvement over everything and shoot to be 1% better every day. 

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Apart from sneakers, clothes, and photography, one of my biggest passions is spirituality and self-development. I meditate daily and strive to help other people become the best versions of themselves. In the future, I would love to take what I have learned and help people expand their consciousness.
