Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Wilson
Hi Jackie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Oh She Healthy is a culmination of my personal journey and transformation. My path has not been easy, but each challenge has been a stepping stone to where I am today. I didn’t always have a healthy relationship with food or my body. In fact, I struggled with eating disorders during my youth. My recovery process was lengthy and transformative, providing me with invaluable insights about myself and my body image. As I emerged from recovery, I sought further wisdom and growth. I completed my degree in the Psychology of Health and Healing at Naropa University, a Buddhist-inspired institution, and went on to earn certifications as a yoga instructor (1,000 hours), health coach, and personal trainer.
The foundation I built at Naropa played a pivotal role in developing a balanced relationship with food, while my personal recovery helped me cultivate a deeply nourishing relationship with my body. This unique combination of education and experience is what distinguishes my approach. Many programs focus on calorie counting, macronutrients, restriction, and weight loss, emphasizing what you “can’t” or “aren’t allowed” to have. In contrast, my approach centers on what you can enjoy—whole, nourishing foods that support and fuel your body.
When the focus is solely on restriction, feelings of deprivation inevitably follow, preventing consistency and lasting change. The constant struggle to fill an empty cup leads to cycles that are hard to break. My program teaches the functional role food plays in our bodies, empowering clients to understand why they crave certain foods and how to make informed choices. With this knowledge, they are equipped to make decisions that fuel their bodies and support their health, while I provide guidance and accountability every step of the way.
By focusing on nourishment, lasting weight loss becomes a natural byproduct. Oh She Healthy aims to challenge the prevailing diet culture, shifting the focus from restriction to sustainability. I educate my clients on how to find an intake that not only helps them look and feel their best but also supports long-term well-being, free from the cyclical nature of fad diets.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I initially launched my business, I was working 60-hour weeks, juggling both my entrepreneurial endeavors and my role at Orangetheory Fitness. In the beginning, I was energized by my passion for what I was doing, and it never truly felt like work. However, over time, the constant grind took its toll. The stress, compounded by wedding planning, began to impact my physical health, and I found myself increasingly burned out from the elevated cortisol levels.
Despite recognizing that I needed a change, I was hesitant to step outside my comfort zone and disrupt the rhythm I had established. But in 2023, three years into running my business, I took a month-long trip to Italy. Surrounded by the culture of siestas, stunning landscapes, and exceptional cuisine, I was reminded that there is more to life than just work. The experience opened my eyes to the importance of balance—working to live, rather than living to work.
Since then, I’ve made significant adjustments to my business model. I’ve established clearer boundaries, ensuring that evenings and weekends are reserved for personal time. I now prioritize vacations and adventures, and I even give myself one dedicated “self-care day” each quarter. These changes have allowed me to reclaim my health and well-being, ensuring that my business serves me, rather than draining me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As the Founder and Owner of Oh She Healthy LLC, I specialize in designing personalized, balanced nutrition and fitness plans tailored to support sustainable lifestyle changes. I prioritize building meaningful relationships with clients, empowering them through education on food, nutrition, and wellness, and equipping them with tools to foster self-efficacy.
My approach involves developing actionable steps to achieve client goals, offering consistent support and accountability, and coaching clients through challenges to ensure long-term success. In addition to nutrition and fitness, I address key areas such as emotional eating, stress management, improved sleep quality, and mindfulness practices, including meditation, to promote holistic well-being.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Sunsama task manager helps me manage my extensive to do list. Anything by Dr. Mark Hyman is a frequent source of continued education for me, including his books, cookbooks and podcast. From a mindset perspective I’m a big fan of
