Daily Inspiration: Meet Jasmine Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Williams.

Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was five years old when I fell in love with the camera. Whether I was in front of it acting extra, or the one behind it taking the pictures. I was in a happy place regardless. During my childhood, my mom was the creative. She always carried a Canon camera whenever the family was spending memorable moments together and I organically gravitated toward it.

When I was eight years old, I lost a friend during Summer break. She died of an asthma attack on the way back home to Colorado and her mom couldn’t find her inhaler fast enough. Since that, I learned at a very young age that time just keeps going with or without the people you appreciate. So I made it a mission of mine to focus on not only doing the things I loved but capturing as many moments as I can along the way.

In middle school, I was taking pictures of friends and family for fun. In High School, I was in Yearbook Club and was taking photos of classmates and sports teams. In college, I studied Communications where I learned the majority of my people skills. Fast forward almost a decade to 2018 is when I began shooting professional photography and really never looked back. I knew two things: 1) That I loved and missed this “feeling,” and 2) The possibilities of where I can go with this were endless. This is truly where my journey began.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road is never smooth, nor do I have any expectations of it being struggle-free. If there’s anything this entrepreneur-life has taught me is that every day is an opportunity to learn and become better. If things were always smooth that means I would be maintaining a level of comfortability that I am not ready for . Facing the hard stuff, and making it a point to always find the solution to what seems to be a problem is exactly what helps us grow and expand as human beings.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have my own photography business where I mainly specialize in portraiture – either curated or candid. Creating and capturing special moments in general is what brings me joy. Whether it’s a special event or impromptu I love all of it! My passion absolutely translates and gives exactly what it’s supposed to give in my photographs. I focus purely on the essence of the subject.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Maintaining a healthy mindset is absolutely critical to the success of any entrepreneur. It’s important to always remain positive. Even when it feels like the chips are down.
