Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeff McKenna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff McKenna. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jeff McKenna has had a passion for fishing from an early age. Spurred on by his father and grandfather in both Illinois and Wisconsin, those formative years on the water were educational and memorable. When the opportunity presented itself for Jeff to own a fly rod – nothing has been the same!

Originally from the midwest, Jeff graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry Resource Management from West Virginia University. It was during those years in his undergrad education setting where his respect and fondness for the water was discovered.

Coupled with his love of fly fishing, rivers, and a passion for the outdoors, Colorado was calling Jeff to make it home! He relocated to Grand Junction in 2003 and his fishing and river/water passions have continued to grow. In both a raft and a drift boat, Jeff can give clients a guided fly fishing experience in low or high waters. He specializes in guiding on the Colorado, Gunnison, and Roaring Fork rivers and also loves to hit some special still water areas.

Married with two sons, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family on and off the river, mountain biking, hosting travel, attending concerts, and sipping whiskey!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a pretty amazing road, especially when we launched our own business and guiding service which is called Colorado West Slope Fly Fishing. We are truly blessed by all the support we have received.

Colorado is home to some of the world’s most pristine waterways and fisheries. We’re lucky to live here and proud to be licensed as a river outfitter. Check out where we guide and our preferred affiliates.

We love to have both new and return clientele, but pride ourselves on having great customer experience and showing you an amazing experience on the water.
