Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Tejcek.
Jeff, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A Personal Journey to Healing: How Virtual EMDR Was Born
To fully walk you through my story, I have to start with the pain that eventually led to a purpose. For years, I struggled with the debilitating symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and the heavy weight of childhood trauma. The flashbacks and overwhelming emotions felt like a life sentence. I felt stuck.
My journey turned a corner when I discovered EMDR therapy. To be honest, it sounded unusual at first, but it genuinely changed my life. It helped me process the memories that had held me captive for so long, and for the first time, I experienced real, lasting relief. But a pressing thought kept coming to me: What about everyone who can’t access this? Whether due to cost, location, or the simple lack of a qualified therapist, this life-changing tool was out of reach for too many.
That was the seed. In 2012, I founded Virtual EMDR with a single, powerful belief: everyone deserves access to the healing power of EMDR, affordably and anonymously, whenever they need it. We launched in 2014, transforming the traditional therapist-led process into a self-guided online program. I am incredibly proud that this simple idea has since grown to help tens of thousands of people, including many of our brave military veterans and first responders who so desperately need and deserve this support.
But a personal story, no matter how powerful, needs to be backed by solid science. We developed Virtual EMDR with a team of dedicated EMDR practitioners and neuroscience experts to ensure it was both revolutionary and scientifically sound. And now, as of only a few months ago, we have groundbreaking data to prove it.
The Proof is in the Data: Our Groundbreaking 2025 Study
This year, we launched the largest-ever study on self-guided EMDR therapy sessions, and the results have exceeded our highest hopes. This major scientific research, conducted with over 300 participants, provides robust, unbiased evidence for what we’ve seen anecdotally for years: Virtual EMDR works.
The key findings demonstrate statistically significant improvements across the board:
Drastic Symptom Reduction: Users experienced significant relief from the core symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and stress.
Built Resilience: The program effectively increased users’ self-efficacy and improved their ability to function in daily life.
The data not only confirms that our platform delivers the core benefits of EMDR in a digital format but also reveals consistently high user satisfaction. It’s a powerful validation of our mission to provide a reliable, safe, and effective mental health tool with immediate, noticeable results and no undesirable side effects.
Today, Virtual EMDR is the world’s largest provider of EMDR therapy sessions. We offer a self-guided path to lasting relief from Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Panic Attacks, Grief, and Addiction—all without the need for a therapist or an appointment.
My own healing journey accidentally led me to create a path for others. It is the greatest privilege to know that Virtual EMDR is now helping people across the globe write their own stories of recovery and resilience.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been very smooth. We have had to redesign our program over and over and over so we could come up with the very best, most efficient and effective version of Virtual EMDR. We wanted to get it right.
We also experienced considerable push back from the therapist community. EMDR therapists were outraged that we weren’t following the traditional EMDR formula created more than 30 years ago. EMDR Therapists also did not like that we were offering EMDR for only about 5% of what they charge. Some EMDR Therapists charge as much as $250 per hour for a single session. Virtual EMDR, on the other hand, offers unlimited sessions for about $50 per month.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One of the other reasons I was interested in EMDR Therapy is because I had a crippling fear of flying. I had not been on a plane for more than 11 years. Thanks to the transformational effect of EMDR I was able to start flying again. I am proud to say that I have now spent time in more than 30 countries around the world.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Artificial Intelligence is going to take over psychotherapy in the next 5 years. We are currently adding a large language AI program to Virtual EMDR so clients can have more interactivity. I think AI may eliminate therapists completely in the next 10 years, but we will wait and see.
Pricing:
- unlmited EMDR sessions for $69 per month
- 6 months of unlimited EMDR sessions plus a one hour EMDR coaching session for $285
- We often offer discount coupons
- our program is 100% free for active military, vets, and first responders.
