Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Maxman.
Hi Kat, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I had been an artist my whole life. My interest in tattooing began when I was in high school but didn’t start perusing a career until I was 19 when I started my apprenticeship. I became a tattoo artist when I was 21.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were countless challenges along the way. Becoming a tattoo artist is a huge commitment and responsibility and a true apprenticeship reflects that. Through all the hard work comes an appreciation and respect for the industry and the art of tattooing which I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a black and grey tattoo artist specializing in sacred geometry, pointillism (dot work), fine line, and ornamental. I am most known for my mandalas and fine-line florals. I am most proud of my long-term projects and relationships with my clients. My client relationships are one of the most important things to me. Tattooing people throughout the years creates a bond that is so special.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Denver has a really fun art and tattoo scene! There are so many talented artists working in this city it’s extremely inspiring to be around. My least favorite thing about Denver is probably the high cost of living.
