Daily Inspiration: Meet Kenya Hodges

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Hodges.

Hi Kenya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
A Chiropractor once told me, “Healing starts from the inside.” At the time, I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about, but I figured they were a doctor they must know. It took me the next twelve years to fully understand the meaning of that quote.

Hi, I’m Dr. Hodges and I received my Doctorate of Chiropractic in the Summer of 2017. For the past 7 years, I made it my absolute mission to heal society from the inside. I was fresh out of school, and I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed; my career choice couldn’t have been more fitting. And then it happened; the World shut down, and my profession was told by the government that we weren’t necessary. At the age of 35, when my budding career was just starting to gain momentum, everything came to an abrupt stop. It was like I smashed into a brick wall at 60 mph; my entire life seemed like it was imploding from the inside, and there was nothing I could do to stop the destruction.

I was powerless, all I could do was watch and pray. Fast forward 3 years, the World finally opened back up, and I was finally beginning to flourish once again in my chosen career path, or so I thought. The more I tried to relight that burning flame I once had for Chiropractic the more I started to realize that it no longer lit my path. Devastation would be putting it lightly. I took the next year off, completely away from my chosen career path to regroup and go on a personal and professional soul-searching mission. God put me on this earth for a purpose and I know that purpose is to serve humanity.  Maybe it’s not through Chiropractic, but I know that everything I have learned from Chiropractic will lead me to my calling.

My yearlong growth journey tore me down and then built me back up. I literally had to learn who I was as a human, I had to learn my why. To be completely honest this was the hardest pill for me to swallow. To pull back all the curtains I had put up over the years and finally see the real me. The real me wanted to help society, but I was unkind. An unkind soul could never have the capacity to serve humanity with a grateful heart. The first lesson I learned was how to be kind. The real me wanted to lead from the front, but I was a follower. A follower could never have the capacity to serve humanity as a leader. The second lesson I learned was how to be a leader. These two powerful lessons, in conjunction, taught me how to be the creative visionary I am today.

With the growth of my personal life, my professional life expanded exponentially, and in August 2023, WaterBuzz was created. The first ever easy-to-operate, comfortable-to-wear, fashionable vibrating bracelet that reminds you to drink water on the hour. Throughout my years as a practicing Chiropractor, I noticed a large majority of my patients, specifically those with ADHD, had difficulties remembering to drink water.

Unfortunately, their lack of water intake was a major cause of their pain and one of the top reasons they had to see me on a regular basis. My goal through Chiropractic was to empower my patients and teach them what my Chiropractor taught me all those years ago, “Healing starts from the inside.” WaterBuzz has now taken the reins, to not only help those I’ve served through Chiropractor, but to help those that need my help worldwide.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road that led me to envision and create WaterBuzz has been quite a rocky road. I had to break myself all the way down, remove the curtains that were blinding my eyes, and finally see the person I had become.

When I saw the person, I had turned into, I couldn’t have been more disgusted in myself. However, once I was able to see the flaws in myself, I was able to gather and surround myself with mentors who helped me grow and evolve into the present human I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Chiropractor and Holistic Healthcare provider turned Visionary and Product Developer. I owned and operated Elite Chiropractic, LLC from 2018 until 2023. It was with great sadness I decided to shut my practice down, however; I knew the void would be filled with my Soul Mission purpose.

Eight months after I closed my practice, a vision appeared to me out of nowhere, and within that vision was a single word, “WaterBuzz.” That one single word was the catalyst for the change of the entire trajectory of my life. That one single word relit the burning flame that had sizzled out inside of me all those years ago. WaterBuzz is my Soul Mission purpose and I invite you to join us on this mission.
