Daily Inspiration: Meet Kevin Andrezejewski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Andrezejewski.

Hi Kevin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Living in Golden, CO for the past 13 years, I’ve been inspired by the amazing sense of community here. Residents of Golden take pride in our community and provide amazing support for each other. As I learned about the food insecurity our neighbors faced, I was inspired to see how I could contribute to programs that provided food security. With a background in Nonprofit Management, I know the importance of leveraging partnerships. BGOLDN is able to serve our neighbors because of our network of businesses, neighbors, and other nonprofits throughout Golden.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With the rise of food costs, the aftermath of the pandemic and the overall increase in the cost of living, it has been a struggle. More now than ever, Food Insecurity is a pressing issue. We’ve seen a 35% increase in families accessing our services. Over the past 12 months, food costs have risen by nearly 14% which impacts our neighbors as well as BGOLDN since most of our fresh food items are purchased.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked both internationally and locally to support nonprofits that are striving to provide basic life services to people in need. Learning across cultures and experiencing how most of the world lives has been humbling and continues to inspire me.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a nutball who always had a sense of adventure. I was very active in exploring from a young age which has carried over to my adult life.
