Daily Inspiration: Meet Lauren Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Rodriguez

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well this whole thing started out of my love for glitter! Ever since I was a child I’ve loved glitter and anything that sparkles and shines. I’ve always said it’s my favorite color. Inspired by a glitter tumbler I seen at a comedian show in 2018. My journey began, by spending almost a year researching the process of making glitter tumblers, taking notes and gathering my supplies. I made my 1 Cuppie in October 2019, and have been creating ever since! I love bringing a customer’s vision to life, customs orders are some of my favorite orders. I love when a order comes through for a special occasion such at weddings, anniversarys or birthdays being apart of special memories are so rewarding. Memorial Cuppies of loved ones who have passed are also super special to make. Being able to create something for someone who has lost a loved one just had a different meaning behind it. Along the way I have learned to love all aspects of resin art and there is always something new to learn. I have recently added a new technique to the shop called sublimation, which can allow me to bring a different type of tumbler to the shop and so many more products. I am very grateful to still be in business and have all the amazing support I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well I’d have to say I have learned so much about being a small business owner and yet have so much to learn. I never knew leaving my 9-5 would mean working closer to 24/7. I have definitely had a few learning curves along the way, from processes, social media, balancing home and work (since now I technically work from home now), time management and learning when to take a break before you get burned out.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for my custom glitter tumblers a.k.a. a cuppie at RSC (RodlasShineCo). What is a glitter tumbler you ask? It’s your everyday water cup, coffee mug, or sometimes it’s the perfect gift for someone. I take a blank stainless steel tumbler and turn it into a beautiful, functional piece if art. You design it and I bring it to life, wheather you want glitter or no glitter I truly love making the customers vision come to life! I would have ti say I am most proud of staying in business through all the times of doubt, uncertainty of the future of this industry. But it’s not the industry, or the following you have it’s the drive and effort you put into your business. Ive had several orders of 10+ tumblers that I have made for life events such at weddings, birthdays and anniversary’s. For someone to trust me to make something special to be apart of a life long memory means the world to me, so I’d have to say I’m pretty proud of those orders. I think what set this glitter fairy apart from the rest is I am who I am, I don’t play a role or pretend to be anyone I’m not. I think people appreciate aunthenticy, because is rare these days. I am willing to take on a challenge, and always ready to bring the best quality made products I can to the table.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’d have to say I’m a pretty positive person. I am doing my best in life and always trying to be better than the person I was the day before. I was once told by a high school teacher to “believe in the impossible so the incredible can happen.” And it’s been a life motto for me. Focusing on my faith in my Lord and savior Jesus Christ and doing my best to read His word is what really has been a game changer this last 6months, in my business and life. I enjoy using the Bible app, I also like listening to episodes of On Purpose with Jay Shetty which is podcast. Also making sure to get outside and walk my dog at least a mile a day might sound silly but it really does allow for a reset, gets me and the dog exercise. Being out in nature for the most part will always boost my mood if needed, or just add to the day that’s already going great.
