Daily Inspiration: Meet Lexi Galvan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Galvan.

Hi Lexi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Your life can change completely in the blink of an eye. I was a healthy 15-year-old until 11/01/2015, I was in a road rage car accident that changed my life instantly. I remember everything about that car accident and the 3-month hospital stay after. I broke my neck at C4/7 and everything went downhill from there. I had to get a tracheotomy and depend on a ventilator that the Dr said I would need for the rest of my life. I was so depressed until one day I snapped out of it and realized I’m still alive and I can still do anything but in my own way. I went to Craig hospital to get off my ventilator and I gained some balance back so I was able to use a manual wheelchair. I still have a long way to go but I’m progressing slowly and I’m finally comfortable in my skin again!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Out of everything, losing people that I thought were my closest friends was the hardest. I’m glad they left though, it made room for better friendships.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I post my therapy sessions on Instagram to show how anybody like me can still get a good workout in an adaptive way! I also love dressing cute and taking pictures to show that everybody is still beautiful no matter what.

What do you think about happiness?
There’s a lot of stuff that makes me happy but my top 3 are 1. My caregiver Gabriel who is my best friend, he helps me with everything and anything. 2. My 3 Shih-Tzus who I love more than anything. 3. My gaming friends who keep a smile on my face daily.
