Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Lundy. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The Kult of Kindness Podcast is a part of Kindness Rocks and the City, from creator Marci Lundy. There is a common word there, and it is on purpose: Kindness. The world is tattered, yet there is also so much beauty and kindness within. A true empath, Marci’s mission is to create a kindness community with what she bills the podcast as; a masterclass for those that are in various stages of their kindness journey. There are many kind individuals in the world, but oftentimes they’ll put their kindness on the back burner in fear that others will take advantage of them, or they may simply not know how to exercise consistent kindness.
A lot of times, people are overthinking the process; it can indeed be as simple as a smile or a kind word. Putting those wheels in motion then sets the tone for the act of kindness to feel easier and more accessible. You’ll find yourself wanting to do more. Be it donate to an organization that you’re passionate about, getting involved in your community, or creating a kindness movement of your own. It’s also important to hold your own feet to the fire. Practicing what you preach is paramount here.
Marci is also very candid with her audience, sharing that although she has largely lived as a kind empath, she spent a number of years shielding her natural kind nature, opting to adopt a mean girl mentality, yet knowing in her heart what her true being was.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Once the decision was made to lead with kindness, it was not challenging at all. As I chose to personally mask kindness through my mid-teens and early twenties, adopting a mean girls mentality, once I decided to let the act go, I realized I had bad habits that I needed to break, which was quite interesting, because in due time, even though I knew the mean girl mindset was a mask for myself, I’d done it for so long that some of those behaviors took a while to shake.
I spent quite some time disappointed at the fact that I failed to realize the power kindness had in comparison to projecting mean and detached. By taking time to mask my kindness, I was not offering the world one of the gifts that I know that I was meant to offer in life, which is to lead by example and help others on this kindness/mindfulness journey. That is the importance of paying it forward in love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My first love is photography. I moved to Colorado in 2010, and the dry climate inspired me to create an organic skincare line. I incorporate my photography into every ounce of 303 Face Body.
I started Kindness Rocks and the City in January 2019, inspired by the Kindness Rocks Project. A total lover of DIY and crafts, this was a fun and natural transition. I frequently do “rock drops” here in the city with the motto, “If it’s found by you, it’s meant for you.” Each rock process, from painting to actual rock drop, is photographed by yours truly. The podcast is recorded each Tuesday of the month, with a live/video version recorded each month as well. A photo is taken to promote each episode.
Earlier this year, I became certified in Chinese medicine, which was an amazing milestone. What I learned I use in my actual life, as well as for my brands. As you can see, there is a theme here; all leading back to photography and wellness. That is what I represent. That is who I am, and that is what I want to help others within this life.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I don’t necessarily have mentors, but for quite some time, there has been a core group of individuals that I admire and trust, and I am constantly learning from them. My parents are a part of this core group. There are also a few individuals that I do not know but admire. I take the positives and things that inspire me about them and incorporate those positives into my life.
