Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Bowdish.
Hi Marie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a love for crafting. Whether I was making my family and friends gifts or DIY-ing projects throughout my home, I always believed that I could learn something new and make beautiful things. Even if I wasn’t good at something at first, I continued to develop my skills, oftentimes through extensive research and practice. I truly believe that one can never stop learning, and I strive to apply that in all aspects of my life.
While planning my own wedding, I began to design my wedding floral. As per my usual DIY projects, I started with research and planning. I then purchased my desired flowers and necessary equipment and got to work. Though my initial motivation was budget-related, I quickly grew to enjoy the process of constructing a design and seeing it come to life. From building the physical structure from scratch to carefully selecting palettes and textures, I became more and more fascinated with the art of floristry. After my wedding, brides began to ask about renting my floral, and I was floored. I hadn’t realized that others could love my work as much as I did, and that’s when I decided to begin Everbloom!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When it comes to being a new florist with no formal training, there are struggles in learning how to construct proper designs. I have had to educate myself on the various materials, bases, and supporting structures that all go into creating beautiful floral pieces.
Though I have researched a lot, “trial and error” often become my greatest teacher. While it can be difficult at times, I truly enjoy getting to make designs for my clients, especially if it’s something I have never done before. I look at it as a learning experience where I get to add new skills to my florist “toolbox.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
