Daily Inspiration: Meet Michael Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Flores.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello,

It all started when I decided to make a career move and relocate from Denver to Glenwood Springs. I was offered a great opportunity in the physical security industry to run a small team of sales reps and grow their sales in the roaring fork valley. It was a risky move because I was well settled in an international company doing the same thing with a baby number two on the way.

Thankfully my wife trusted me and we relocated. Business was booming working with CEOs/ Founders of companies that we all know like the 2-day E-Commerce Company that own Whole Food and the company that owns Disney Plus. Really it was a culture shock because coming from a lower middle-class family, I didn’t comprehend how much money some of these people had and what it could get you. From knocking down a beautiful 10K square foot house just because it wasn’t “modern” enough to ordering a foreign designed roof for their “picnic” house just made to have one or two annual family get-togethers.

Work was steady selling to the world’s most wealthy, but in all honesty, there wasn’t much to do in the valley year-round. That what I discovered a little hidden gem called Carbondale beer works and craft beer. Prior, even living in the city we really didn’t get out much since any babysitter is located 100+ miles away.

It’s been a short journey thus far but I have definitely fell in love with the craft brewing industry. Not only for its delicious beer but for its culture. To this day I have visited over 130+ breweries across the nation in person. That is what inspired me to create an Instagram that is solely dedicate to showing beer lovers around the world my favorite breweries. I need to get back to my personal grading scale in which I originally graded which breweries on how family-friendly they were (because of my family of 4 now), my favorite beer, atmosphere, and customer service. My page is definitely not the most popular beer page by any means but it is a way for me to share my experiences.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My profession is actually 10+ years of the physical security industry, specifically sales. This includes providing access control, surveillance systems, alarm systems and shooter detection systems.

I now work as a manufacturer rep helping security companies choose the best access control system with my most notable customer being the largest school district in the state.

People choose to work with me because of my expertise, people skills, and solution.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Of course. Making things face to face and intimate is key to successful business. Even if we can’t shake hands.
